Venice is art: history, beauty and culture combine in perfect harmony in every corner and point of the city.

Its rich merchants and enlightened patrons transformed it over the centuries, inspiring the construction of extraordinary palaces, churches and large schools and commissioning furnishings, frescoes and canvases.

Venice is divided into areas known as "sestieri". The heart of the city is undoubtedly St. Mark’s Square, with its splendid Piazza and Basilica. Near by are St. Mark’s Bell Tower, the Ducal Palace, the Church of Santo Stefano, the Torre dell'Orologio, the Correr Museum, Palazzo Fortuny and Palazzo Grassi.

In the Santa Croce area you can visit some important churches like S. Simeone Profeta, Sant'Andrea della Dirada, the ancient Church of San Giacomo dall'Orio and the Fontego dei Turchi. San Polo is the area of the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, Cà Foscari, the Rialto Bridge, Casa Goldoni, Palazzo Albrizzi, Palazzo Mocenigo, Cà Corner and the Church of San Rocco. In the Dorsoduro area you must visit the Basilica della Salute, Longhena’s architectural masterpiece, Cà Rezzonico and the galleries of the Accademia.

In Castello the most interesting features are the Venice Arsenale and the Maritime History Museum, but also the Basilica of the Santissimi Giovanni e Paolo and the Biennale Gardens, current home of the International Art Biennale. The Palazzo della Cà d'Oro, Ponte delle Guglie, the Church of the Scalzi and, above all, the old Jewish ghetto, are the main attractions of the area of Cannareggio. Opposite, on the Island of the Giudecca, don’t miss the Basilica del Redentore and the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore.
