Marine Oasis

In the waters near Caorle, around 1.5 miles off the coast, there is a Marine Nature Oasis, with a series of rocky outcrops (known as tegnùe).

This marine environment (including the larger tegnùe of the Upper Adriatic) is so important that a Biologically Protected Area has been set up to promote and safeguard the whole area, using submerged structures and perimeter barriers against unauthorised trawler fishing, promoting eco-tourism linked to diving and guided diving areas and encouraging new methods of controlled, selective fishing.
